The Honors Program is pleased to announce that the 2020 Honors Professor of the Year is Gary Dohanich, Professor of Psychology, Suzanne and Stephen Weiss Presidential Fellow, and Director of the PhD Program in Neuroscience. The Honors Professor of the Year is an award given to a faculty member who has made significant contributions to the Honors Program and the intellectual life of the student body. Professor Dohanich has been a strong supporter of Honors students and the Honors Program for many years, from the time that Professor Jean Danielson was director. From guiding students on their Honors Theses, mentoring first-year and second year Honors students, and introducing students in Wall to concepts of neuroscience with his “Gray Matter” Society, Professor Dohanich has offered unwavering guidance to bright, curious students with intelligence, pragmatism, and generosity. The Honors Program thanks Professor Dohanich for all that he has done to contribute substantially and positively to students’ education by challenging them, by leading them to ask questions or draw conclusions they would never have considered, and by exciting their interest in and curiosity about psychology and neuroscience.
