Garrett Andrew Fontenot joined the Honors Program in 2019. He works closely with both Honors Residential Learning Communities in Weatherhead Hall and Wall Residential College, including the Wall Faculty Fellows and Wall Societies. He also serves as the Honors Program’s primary point of contact for prospective and newly admitted Honors students, as well as for current Tulane students interested in joining the Honors Program. Dr. Fontenot comes to Tulane from the University of Notre Dame, where he received a Ph.D. in American History. His research focuses on the intersection of geopolitics and political economy in the British and French empires in North America and the Atlantic world between 1763 and the American Revolution. While writing his dissertation, he received a Fulbright research award to work in Canada, where he spent a year in Montreal in residence at McGill University. He received a BA in History and Global Sociology from Loyola University New Orleans.
